Day 1 - Cape Town
Arrival, Coastal Check‑In & Sunset at Sea
On arrival at Cape Town International Airport you are met at the aircraft door and escorted through a discreet, fast‑track process. Formalities are handled quietly on your behalf before you step into your private vehicle. A scenic coastal drive introduces the Atlantic Seaboard — beaches, coves and cliffs — en route to your ocean‑front hotel.
You check in to a handpicked coastal sanctuary where mountains rise behind you and the sea stretches ahead. Your luggage is handled for you; there is time to exhale after the flight, freshen up, or enjoy a light spa treatment or drink on the terrace as you adjust to the rhythm of the Cape.
Late afternoon, you board a private boat for a gentle Seal Island / coastal sunset cruise. The city and Table Mountain fall away behind you as the shoreline glows in the last light of day. You return to your hotel for a quiet dinner, tailored to your preferences, and your first night’s sleep to the sound of the Atlantic beyond your windows.
Day 2 – Cape Peninsula
The Cape of Good Hope, Ocean Fairways & Penguins
Day 2 begins with breakfast overlooking the ocean before you set out by private vehicle along one of the world’s most celebrated coastal drives. You follow the curves of Chapman’s Peak Drive, pausing at lookouts and hidden coves, before reaching the wild promontory of the Cape of Good Hope for a short, guided exploration.
From here, you continue along the peninsula to a premier coastal signature course, set between mountain and sea. A reserved warm‑up and your private caddie await. You play 18 holes on a layout known for immaculate conditioning, subtle strategy and sweeping views — an elegant introduction to South African golf.
After your round, you enjoy lunch at an iconic ocean‑front restaurant, perched directly above the waves. The afternoon concludes with a private visit to Boulders Beach, where you walk the white sand and boardwalks among the resident African penguin colony. As evening falls, you return by road to your coastal Cape Town hotel for dinner and your second night by the Atlantic.
Day 3 – The Winelands to Hermanus
Signature Golf & Cellar‑Door Indulgence
After breakfast, you depart Cape Town by road for the Cape Winelands, where vineyard‑lined valleys and mountain backdrops define the landscape. Your first stop is a Jack Nicklaus–designed signature course near Paarl, renowned for its pristine conditioning, strategic bunkering and championship pedigree.
You move directly into a reserved warm‑up session and meet your private caddie team before playing 18 holes at a pace that suits your group. Between nines or after your round, you enjoy a cellar‑side lunch and curated wine tasting, featuring selected estate vintages and regional cuisine, in a private area of the clubhouse or nearby estate.
In the late afternoon, a short transfer brings you to your Winelands estate or boutique hotel, where check‑in is handled efficiently and your luggage is already in your room. The evening is yours to enjoy the property’s gardens, spa and dining — perhaps a long, unhurried dinner paired with the wines you have just discovered.
Day 4 – Hermanus
Whale Coast Drive, Ocean Fairways & Dune Sundowners
Day 4 opens with a leisurely breakfast amid vineyards and mountains before you depart by road toward the Whale Coast. Your route crosses scenic passes and fertile valleys, with time for a short coffee stop and viewpoints along the way, before you reach the coastal town of Hermanus, known internationally for its dramatic cliffs, whale sightings and sweeping views over Walker Bay.
Your 18‑hole round today is played at Hermanus’s premier coastal course, where holes weave between indigenous fynbos, distant mountain ridges and glimpses of the ocean. A reserved warm‑up area and private caddies ensure an unhurried, well‑supported experience, with on‑course refreshments managed in advance according to your preferences. Between shots, there is space simply to stand, breathe the sea air and take in the scale of the bay.
After golf, you check in to a luxury reserve or coastal lodge just beyond town. A dedicated spa session has been scheduled for the afternoon, allowing you to fully unwind before a private 4x4 transfer carries you across dunes to a secluded beach for sundowners. Fine spirits, canapés and an open horizon close the day, before you return to the lodge for dinner and a quiet night on the Whale Coast.
Day 5 – Sanbona Wildlife Reserve
Into the Wild: Big Five Tented Safari
Today the Odyssey pivots from ocean and vineyards to wilderness and wildlife. After breakfast and an unhurried check‑out, you depart Hermanus by road for Sanbona Wildlife Reserve, a journey that crosses changing landscapes from coastal fynbos to rugged interior mountains and open plains, with a stop for lunch en route.
By early afternoon, you arrive at Sanbona’s luxury tented camp, where you are welcomed and escorted to your tented suite. Spacious interiors, fine linens, full bathrooms and a private deck overlooking the reserve offer an immersive yet comfortable base from which to experience the bush. There is time to rest, swim or visit the spa before your first game drive.
In the late afternoon, you meet your ranger and tracker team for an evening Big Five drive in an open 4x4. You explore in search of lion, elephant, rhino, buffalo and other iconic species, against the backdrop of vast skies and distant hills. As the sun sets, you pause for classic safari sundowners, then return to camp for a lantern‑lit boma dinner under the stars, where stories and quiet conversation carry the night.
Day 6 – Sanbona to the Garden Route
Sunrise Drive, Bush Walk & Poolside Stillness
Day 6 begins before dawn with a gentle wake‑up and coffee or tea in your tent. You depart on a sunrise game drive, when the bush is at its most active and atmospheric. With luck, this completes your personal Big Five checklist; with certainty, it deepens your connection to the land and its rhythms. Mid‑drive, you stop for coffee and light snacks in the open air.
Back at camp, a full breakfast awaits, followed by options tailored to your preferences. You may choose a guided bush walk with your ranger (conditions permitting), focusing on tracks, plants and the finer details often missed from a vehicle, or opt for a slow morning — reading on your deck, enjoying the pool, or indulging in spa treatments.
The afternoon is deliberately unstructured, allowing time for rest and reflection between phases of your journey. Later, you may join a second game drive or extended sundowner, or simply remain in camp to watch the light change over the plains. Another carefully prepared dinner rounds off your second and final night in the wild, with the sounds of the bush just beyond your canvas walls.
Day 7 – Garden Route: Pinnacle Point to Fancourt
From Karoo Plains to Cliff‑Top Golf & Estate Grandeur
After breakfast at Sanbona, you depart by road toward the Garden Route, watching as the semi‑arid plains of the Karoo give way to rolling farmland and, eventually, the distant glimmer of the Indian Ocean. A comfort and lunch stop is included along the way, ensuring the transfer remains relaxed and unhurried.
By early afternoon, you arrive at Pinnacle Point (or equivalent cliff‑top signature course), dramatically positioned above the ocean. Here you have the option of playing 9 or 18 holes, depending on your energy, timing and preference. The course is known for bold carries over ravines, cliff‑edge greens and uninterrupted sea views — a thrilling contrast to the stillness of the bush.
Following your round, a short transfer brings you to Fancourt, the Garden Route’s flagship golf estate. You check in to the historic Manor House or an equivalent premium category, with formalities handled smoothly and discreetly. The evening is yours to explore the estate’s facilities, dine on site and settle into a new rhythm at one of South Africa’s most celebrated golf addresses.
Day 8 – Fancourt
Legendary Links & Estate Indulgence
Day 8 is devoted to walking in legendary footsteps. After breakfast, you prepare for your round on The Links at Fancourt (or the main championship course, depending on access), a hand‑crafted links‑style masterpiece modelled on the great layouts of Ballybunion and St Andrews and host of the 2003 Presidents Cup.
Founder John Sparks was personally employed and entrusted by Captain Gary Player, then world Presidents Cup team captain, to oversee and orchestrate the team’s logistics during that iconic event — a rare honour within the inner circle of the game. The same meticulous, invisible orchestration now underpins your own time at Fancourt, from tee times to transfers and private space.
A structured warm‑up and concise course briefing precede your round, with private caddies and on‑course refreshments arranged to your preferences. After 18 holes on this storied ground, the remainder of the day is yours to enjoy Fancourt’s spa, practice facilities, pools and dining. Day 9 - Pezula & Garden Route Finale
Cliff‑Top Masterpiece & Last Night on the Estate
Day 9 begins with breakfast at Fancourt before you set out by road along the Garden Route toward Knysna. Forested slopes, lagoons and distant coastal views shape the drive, with a short comfort stop en route. By late morning you arrive at Pezula, a spectacular cliff‑top course set high above the Indian Ocean.
After a reserved warm‑up and introduction to your caddie team, you play 18 holes on this visually striking layout, known for dramatic elevation changes, strong visual framing and a signature par‑3 set directly on the cliff edge with nothing but ocean beyond. Time is built in for photography at key holes, so you can capture the scale and beauty of the setting without feeling rushed.
Following your round and a light, unhurried lunch, you return by road to Fancourt for your final night on the Garden Route. The afternoon and evening are yours: a last visit to the spa, a quiet drink on the terrace, or a celebratory dinner on the estate. It is a fitting finale — linking three of South Africa’s most iconic golfing names in a single, continuous narrative.
Day 10 – Farewell from the Garden Route
Slow Morning, Short Flight & Seamless Connection
Your final morning is intentionally unhurried. A leisurely breakfast at Fancourt allows you to savour the estate one last time — perhaps a short walk, a final swim or a quiet moment on your balcony. Packing is completed at ease, with luggage collection and check‑out managed discreetly on your behalf.
At the agreed time, your private driver transfers you to George Airport, a short, straightforward journey from the estate. Here you board a scheduled or private internal flight to Cape Town, carefully timed to connect with your onward international departure. The flight is brief, offering one last aerial glimpse of the mountains and coastline that have framed your Odyssey.
On arrival in Cape Town, you move directly into your international connection, with the same sense of order and ease that has defined your journey.
