Two of the finest Hermanus beaches can be found below Birkenhead House. Voëlklip, (‘bird rock’ in Afrikaans) and Kamma Bay. The team at Birkenhead House will pack a picnic basket for you complete with beach bats and balls for a relaxed day on the sands – or grab one of our surfboards and wet suits before paddling out.
Grotto Beach is an easy ten-minute stroll along the world-renowned Hermanus cliff path that runs past the hotel and has been awarded the prestigious Blue Flag Status, reflecting its high standard of cleanliness, environmental protection and the fact that it has full-time lifeguards and security.
