A year of real journeys, written day by day from the road
For most travellers, a journey is a two‑week escape. For me, it became a life.
Over the next year, I’m opening something I’ve never shared before: a twelve‑volume chronicle of what it means to live on the road in Southern Africa—month by month, day by day. Not as a tourist, but as a guide, host, and quiet architect of ultra‑luxury journeys for families who think in generations.
We begin with Volume 9: September Tides – Journeys Through Southern Africa’s Wild Heart. It is my favourite month of the year: whales in Walker Bay, deserts bursting into wildflowers, lagoons turned to glass, safaris in spring light, helicopters over world‑famous golf courses, rock art cathedrals in the Cederberg, horses on white beaches, and low flights over ancient dunes and Victoria Falls.
Each chapter is a single day on tour—real journeys, real guests, and the quiet days in between. Some entries follow families and friends on once‑in‑a‑lifetime itineraries; others find me alone on a path, a dune, or a farmhouse stoep, listening to what the land wants to say.
